Duties and Responsibilities

Org. Setting and Reporting The UN Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in Angola brings together all the UN entities working on sustainable development in the country and leads the United Nations Country Team (UNCT). Its main goal is to ensure joint planning and working together and ensure the delivery of tangible results in support of the development agenda of the Government of Angola, through the new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, which guides the UN country team’s development program cycle, in joint agreement with the Government. The main functions of the RCO include but not limited to strategic analysis and planning; oversight of the UN country programming cycle; representation and support of UN Secretariat and UN Agencies including those without formal presence in Angola; support the national coordination systems and processes; development and management of shared operational support services; crisis management preparedness and response; external communication and advocacy; human rights and political Development; joint resource mobilization and fund management; and general UNCT oversight and coordination. Under the direct supervision of the Executive Associate, and the overall supervision of the team leader, the intern will be hosted at the Resident Coordinator Office, and he/she will carry out tasks related to Human Resources, Office General Administration and Finance. The Internship is UNPAID and full-time. Responsibilities - Drafts routine correspondence and responds to enquiries and provides information regarding administrative procedures in close liaison with the regional office. - Ensures services organized for meetings, such as venue rental, translation services, and other procurement services. - Maintains the filing system ensuring safekeeping of confidential materials. - Screens all incoming calls and correspondence - Supports RCO staff in organizing meetings, appointments with partners, transportation arrangements among others. - Maintains repositories of partner contact lists and ensures regular updating - Provides logistical assistance for relevant missions. - Supports administrative tasks. - Undertakes any other duties assigned

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Preferred studies: Holder of a bachelor’s degree in Administration or related social sciences. Preference for Business studies is desired. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Be result-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines. - Good interpersonal skills and a personal commitment to the Principles and Values of the United Nations Charter. - Good communication skills, including the ability to draft documents in a clear and concise manner. - Creativity, knowledgeable and with personal interest in new technologies and tools. - No prior professional experience is required, although any experience of relevance will be an advantage. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme, although any professional experience in the relevant areas for this internship are an asset. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Fluency in English and Portuguese languages is required for this internship. Knowledge of another UN language would be desirable.

Intern Specific text

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
